DAN OSBORN’S
NEBRASKA FAIRNESS PLAN
Defend Our Freedoms and the Constitution
If there’s one thing Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, Independents, and even non-political folks agree on, it’s that our government doesn’t work for us the way our Founders intended. The ultra-powerful have rigged the system against working people, sidelining our fundamental American right to live our lives on our terms. Our constitutional rights and privacy are constantly under attack by a government that puts partisan and corporate concerns over the actual interests of Americans.
Most Americans just want to be left alone. We do not want to have to deal with the government unless we need to, yet we experience overreach everywhere. In the U.S. Senate, I’ll fight for our freedoms and the American right to pursue the life we want to live.
This year, we’re celebrating the 250th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence and the founding of the United States of America. Back then, a group of American patriots said “enough is enough” and broke away from British tyranny. We need to call on this heritage and fight back against the tyranny of the billionaires, corporations, and insiders who are abusing their power at the expense of the working class.

The Second Amendment is for Everyone: I am fundamentally in favor of the Second Amendment. While I support reasonable safety measures, including gun safety education in our schools, law-abiding citizens have, and must always have, the right to bear arms. We need to protect the Second Amendment.
End the Surveillance State: Current U.S. intelligence law gives the executive branch significant authority to surveil American citizens, often without strong judicial oversight. The government should not be spying on us without compelling evidence to justify it. I would not support the reauthorization of FISA Section 702 without strict warrant protections for Americans.
Get the Government's Hands Off Our Data: Right now, using the internet is a deal with the devil: your personal data is constantly being sold to the highest bidder. The government is on the action, dodging constitutional requirements by buying our data from third parties. I support the bipartisan Fourth Amendment Is Not For Sale Act, which will close this loophole and protect our privacy.

Legalize Medical Marijuana: In 2024, 71% of Nebraska voters voted to legalize medical marijuana but Pete Ricketts has sabotaged the will of the people at every turn. He spent $500,000 on ads lying about medical marijuana. He said it would "kill your kids." He lobbied against legislation that would have properly regulated it. I will stand up for patients and caregivers to make sure people can get the medicine that helps them. I will not only stop the obstruction, I will actively work to support the adoption of medical marijuana in our state.
Keep the Government Out of Medical Decisions: I believe in limited government. Politicians shouldn’t be involved in most medical issues – those are between a patient and their doctors. For example, I am personally pro-life, but believe the government should not be making health decisions for people. It is important that people have the right to make their own choices in consultations with their doctors.
